1. Who we are
The Canadian Healing Touch Foundation (CHTF) is a non-profit organization based in Canada. We administer bursaries for Canadian Healing Touch practitioners. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information, in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with our site, we may collect:
- Bursary applications: name, address, phone number, email, financial circumstances, class information.
- Donation forms: name, address, email, donation amount, payment method.
- Contact form: name, email, subject, and message.
- Administrator accounts: email address and hashed password (internal use only).
3. How we use your information
Your information is used solely for the following purposes:
- Evaluating and processing bursary applications.
- Issuing tax receipts for donations.
- Responding to your inquiries.
- Administering the Foundation.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties, except as required by law.
4. Cookies
Our site uses only strictly necessary session cookies required for the administrator area to function. These cookies expire when the session ends. We do not use any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.
5. Data retention
In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements for registered charities:
- Bursary applications and financial records: retained for 6 years from the end of the fiscal year to which they relate.
- Official donation receipts: retained for 6 years from the end of the calendar year in which the donation was made.
- Contact form submissions: deleted when no longer needed.
- Administrator accounts: deleted upon account closure.
6. Your rights
Under Law 25, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate information corrected.
- Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal obligations.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
7. Security
We implement reasonable technical safeguards (HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, security headers) to protect your information from unauthorized access.
